Accessories

Here are some accessories we found valuable:
  • Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) Field Mat Walls:  These walls were great because they're so mobile.  They're simple 3/4" x 3-1/2" painted MDF from home depot, screwed and countersunk together.  Holes pates match holes drilled into the adjacent pieces, where simple bolts can be inserted to hold the pieces firmly together and removed easily for takedown.  These pieces stacked and were easy to bring to tournaments.  Caution:  These sides are much more precise and smooth than those we experienced in the tournaments.  Tournament 2x4's were rough, warped, and had rounded corners that the mat regularly would slide under.  These conditions were unwelcome surprises at tournaments.
  • LEGO parts carrying totes:  These were invaluable.  We probably would have spent half the season looking for pieces without them.  Keep them organized.  Bring them to tournaments in case of necessary robot changes.
  • Team sweatshirts:  These identify your team to others, and make it easier to find teammates.  Our sweatshirts were extremely cozy and very reasonably priced.  Ella-Broidery in Palo Alto, CA made ours for $40 each, including front and back embroidery, vitually unlimited colors, extensive setup time, and no minimum order.  Can't beat that.
